Project Review: Intolerable Cruelty

A Wedding Ring Hangman's Noose concept.

I built some 3D arrows to add to some photography of a Cupid getting shot.

A bear trap shaped like a "heart".

A virtual photo shoot of a standard paper shredder.

Intolerable Cruelty

Client: Universal Pictures via BLT and Associates.
Art Director(s): Zach Ris, and Marcus Almaraz.
Project Date: Winter 2002.

Back in 2002 while in house at BLT and Associates doing both Print and AV work, I had a chance to work on some fun and imaginative ideas for a new George Clooney film called Intolerable Cruelty. Love gone bad is a great concept to explore with visuals and I had some fun on this one. The paper shredder was used in a few comps showing Catherine Zeta-Jones shredding the Pre-Nup and Marriage License etc. The bear trap in a heart shape has George almost stepping into it, and the hangman's noose made from a wedding ring was a graphic piece I explored for the project. Nothing went to finish on this one, but it was a great project none the less.

Cheers, THOM
